The GMT Privacy Policy applies to all personal information collected by GMT. In this document we explain what personal information we collect and store, how and why we collect and store it, how we use it, and what controls you have over our use of it.
GMT is committed to protecting the privacy of your information when you deal with us by complying with Commonwealth Privacy legislation and other guidelines and codes applicable to governing the privacy of personal information by business.

Range of personal information we collect and store
|
GMT collects a range of personal information in the course of its normal recruitment activities of sourcing, selecting and connecting of people to client requirements.
Information collected includes but is not limited to contact details, current skills and attributes, current and past job details, performance, future aspirations, referee feedback and results of our contacts and interviews with candidates.

Purpose of collecting and storing personal information
|
Personal information collected and stored is considered necessary to perform normal GMT recruitment business functions and without which we could not provide services to candidates or clients.

Approaches to collecting personal information
|
Personal information is normally collected through a number of channels including:
- Information provided by candidates by direct contact with GMT staff
- Information provided by candidates in completing resumes usually on, but not limited to, our MyGMT system
- Information provided to our supplies for evaluation purposes
- Information from referees and previous clients and associates.
Some information provided to us by clients, other contractors and other third parties might be considered personal information. Without these details we would not be able to carry on our business. We will only collect such personal information if it is necessary for one of our functions or activities.
GMT does not collect personal information that we do not need to perform normal GMT recruitment business functions and without which we could not provide services to candidates or clients.
GMT only collects personal information by lawful and fair means and does not use unreasonable and intrusive ways of collecting information.
GMT does usually not collect highly sensitive information about a candidate such as health, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, and membership of associations. If such information is required GMT will not collect it without explicit prior consent of the candidate.

Storing personal information - the MyGMT System
|
All personal information about candidates is stored in the GMT recruitment and engagement management system, MyGMT.
MyGMT is a web based system that has full security controls to prevent unauthorised access, alteration or removal of personal information. All changes and additions are identifiable through audit trails.

Personal information is retained on MyGMT for purposes of future sourcing and selecting activities. We do not retain personal information without candidates' permission. Information older than <how long, one year> is revalidated prior to use.

Using and disclosing personal information
|
GMT will use or disclose personal information about an individual:
- for the primary purpose for which it is collected (eg. provision of our services, including administration of our services, notification to you about changes to our services, record-keeping following termination of our services to you and technical maintenance).
- for a purpose related to the primary purpose of collection and where it would reasonably be expected by you that we would use the information in such a way.
This information is only disclosed to persons outside our business in the circumstances set out in this policy or as otherwise notified to you at the time of collection of the information.
Consent to use and disclose information is obtained a number of ways including in writing, verbally and in the MyGMT system discussed above.

Disclosing personal information without specific consent
|
We may use or disclose personal information without further specific consent where:
- it is for a reasonable and expected purpose related to the purpose for collecting the information in accordance with this privacy policy
- you have consented to the use or disclosure
- we reasonably believe that the use or disclosure is necessary to lessen or prevent a serious, immediate threat to someone's health or safety or the public's health or safety
- we reasonably suspect that unlawful activity has been, is being or may be engaged in and the use or disclosure is a necessary part of our investigation or in reporting the matter to the relevant authorities
- such use or disclosure is required under or authorised by law (for example, to comply with a subpoena, a warrant or other order of a court or legal process)
- we reasonably believe that the use or disclosure is reasonably necessary for prevention, investigation, prosecution and punishment of crimes or wrongdoings or the preparation for, conduct of, proceedings before any court or tribunal or the implementation of the orders of a court or tribunal by or on behalf of an enforcement body.

Obtaining access to and making corrections to personal information
|
GMT is happy to provide candidates or past candidates with information we have collected and stored about them in MyGMT.
This can be done by using the email address above. Verbal requests cannot be accepted. Where information stored in MyGMT is inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-date, GMT undertakes to change the information and not to use information until the changes have been made to the satisfaction of the applicant.
Although GMT is authorised under the National Privacy Principles to charge for this service, GMT does not usually charge for the service.

Disagreements and complaints
|
If you have a complaint about our Privacy Policy or the collection, use or safe disposal or destruction of your personal information, your complaint should be directed in the first instance to us at the email address above.
GMT will investigate your complaint and attempt to resolve any breach that might have occurred in relation to the collection, use or destruction of personal information stored by us about you in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy legislation. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of this procedure then you may request that an independent person (usually the Commonwealth Privacy Officer) investigate your complaint.
